Tutoring and Academic Support Services
The Office of Tutoring and Academic Support Services at New Jersey City University empowers a diverse student population with sustainable and transferable skills to become our next generation of leaders. Grounded in real-world applications and a commitment to developing leadership, ethics, and critical thinking, the academic support center assists students in cultivating a passion for lifelong learning that will assist in future career and academic endeavors.
Spring 2023
In-person and online academic support services, including academic coaching, tutoring, and workshops, are available and accessible to all student via the Tutoring and Academic Support Resources course found in Blackboard.

Helpful Terms
Asynchronous Writing Sessions (defined): The student is not present while the tutor provides track comments to improve the student's writing skills. Note: Tutors do not edit papers.
Synchronous Writing Sessions (defined): The student is present and engages with the tutor while reviewing grammar, structure, etc. to improve the student's writing skills. Note: Tutors do not edit papers.
In-person and online tutoring, academic coaching, and workshops
Students seeking appointments for tutoring (writing, mathematics, business, computer science, biology, chemistry, physics), Academic coaching, and workshops via The Hub can access the self-scheduling system located in the Tutoring and Academic Support Services course in Blackboard.
TutorMe, Online Tutoring Service
Students seeking tutoring during nights and weekends or in subjects not services via The Hub can access TutorMe, online tutoring service, via the Tutoring and Academic Support Services course in Blackboard.
Workshops
Workshops are held throughout the semester. Student can review the schedule and self-register via the Tutoring and Academic Support Services course located on Blackboard.

Additional workshops in collaboration with OSP, OSS/SI, TLC, and the Community Service Center may run during the semester.
Academic Coaching & Personal Tutoring Plans
Academic Coaching provides one-on-one sessions between the student and an academic coach with an emphasis on the student’s specific needs, inclusive of booking Personal Tutoring Plans.
Rebound (Academic Probation Program)
Rebound is a university-wide academic probation program that ensures students on academic probation (CGPAs below 2.0) are aware of support services including tutoring, workshops, counseling, academic advisement, academic coaching, and more.
Participation in Rebound has helped students exit academic probation, continue receiving financial aid, successfully appeal academic dismissal, learn about student support services, and graduate from NJCU in a timely manner.
